This rectangular laminated card with pale pink and white colors surrounding a young picture of my grandmother is a prayer card that memorializes and honors my grandmother’s death. The card was produced by Unity Funeral Chapel in partnership with Honor Your Memorial Products in 2012 and contains a prayer on the backside by an unknown author. As a physical and a votive object, a prayer card is an important part of the grieving process, helping to comfort and console loved ones long after the funeral is over. Resting on a bookshelf in my home today, the prayer card symbolizes that my grandmother is always with us and that her loved ones will never forget her amazing life’s journey.
