Declan Gunn, denizen of Park Slope, is a lover of good books, spirited debate, and writing in third person. He is interested in the intersection between the humanities and the sciences — although in society people tend to delineate the two separately, he believes there’s a lot more grey area between them than people tend to acknowledge. This program has been interesting because it’s given him a stronger basis to consider these connections, from the natural science integrated into the arts of The High Line to the sustainable, environmentally friendly architectural design by researchers we met at Columbia. An everday object that Declan considers to be powerful in design is this yellow plastic Pikachu charging cable.
